Window Surfing – It's So Good, But We're so Effin' Broke!

There are days in fashion, and there are days in fashion. And I continuously ask myself why is it when we have money, there is nothing to buy and right when the rent check goes we find that one thing that was missing the whole time. I've been completely obsessed with Burberry Prorsum and YSL, I don't want to say but also Christian Dior and both me and Laura find ourselves “Window Surfing” through MRPORTER.com or Net-a-porter.com (surfing the internet for products that we desire, but don't intend to buy – yes, it's the new Window Shopping).

It's Monday, and it the 9th, which indicates you are probably recovering from last months expanses. Which indicates that it's the best time to start shopping without regret. For me at least, when I shop towards the end of the month – I am full of regret.

“Why is it when we have money, there's nothing to buy – and when we don't have money – we need it all”

Having never even had so much as a paper round in my early teens – I think it's referred to as a paper route across the pond – I perfected the art of window shopping at an early age. The High Street became my Buckingham Palace and I was the most eager tourist armed with a Canon SLR out there. However, I'm no longer a teenager living at home. I live in central London and although my budget has been scrupulously perfected to cover all vital costs and little else, I still manage to convince myself that it's no big deal if I buy a new bag and obviously what's a new bag without the shoes?

I'm not going to lie, the day I don't fear heart failure when checking my bank balance, is a good day. But as lovely lady luck would have it, a good day turns into a letdown day when the shoes I've been admiring for the past 2 weeks disappear, or just mysteriously don't appeal to me anymore. We've all been there, getting the guilt when that money you know you should be saving for the electricity bill – thanks to your boyfriends infuriating inability to turn off the XBOX, TV, Blu Ray player, or even A LIGHT?! – Ends up going on that Marc Jacobs purse. (I actually just got the guilt typing that). Unfortunately, whether you're 15 and have finally got that $50 off your Aunt who you never see or 21 and having issues prioritizing, it's just a simple case of Murphey's law. When you want it, you can't have it. And when you can have it, you can't find it. The universe just continues torture me with its unfair rules and beautiful shoes.
